Gas or Diesel Limousines?

Fuel is something which affects all of us, those of us who have to fill up our own cars are continually struck with the rising cost of fuel, and even if you don’t have your own car, you are paying for the increased price of fuel in everything from airfares to freight costs.

Therefore fuel is also an important issue in the limousine hire industry as the limo hire companies must look at how many miles they get per litre, how long the engine will last running on a particular fuel and the cost of a gas limousine versus a diesel limousine.

The engines of a diesel vehicle will outlast many gas engines, and especially with the larger super stretch limousines, they find that the diesel provides more power when it is needed the most.

Running on diesel will also get you further per litre of fuel than running on gas but like with anything on any type of fuel, regularly maintaining and servicing it is the best way to get fuel efficiency. Because of its fuel efficiency and power, diesel vehicles will also be easier to sell when the time comes and this is important to limo hire companies as while they may keep some of their vehicles for ten years, others they may only keep for four or five years.

However, even though diesel will get you further, diesel vehicles will cost you more to buy to begin with and they are also more expensive to service, maintain (oil etc) and to replace parts.

Therefore, do limo hire operators go for the vehicle which will cost less to buy, service and maintain but uses more fuel or the vehicle which is more expensive at the outset but provides more power, better fuel efficiency and better resale value?

It all depends on what types of limousines the limo hire company is running and the types of runs they regularly do. It also depends on the size of the limo hire company and where their cost priorities are.
