Limo Shooting

Limousines are often in the media, but not usually as the centre of the feature, generally they are simply transporting those who are being photographed and sought after.

However, celebrities are not only featured in the media when they are on their way to a movie premiere or snapped by the paparazzi waiting for their coffee in their local Starbucks, celebrities are also often involved in devastating news events and because of their status, their dramas unfold very publicly.

Unfortunately, 2007 was not peacefully welcomed in all around the world when the Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams was killed early New Year’s Day when his white stretch hummer limousine was sprayed with bullets after a dispute in a nightclub after a New Year’s Eve party.

The police are unsure whether Williams was specifically targeted for this attack but this does not make it any easier for his friends and family to deal with the senseless tragedy.

Just after 2am the hummer limousine was fired upon from a vehicle which pulled up alongside. The hummer took around a dozen bullets to the driver’s side and one window was blown completely out.

While the attack was preceded by a disagreement at a party earlier in the night, there is no reason to believe that Williams was involved directly, and there were also no shots fired from inside the hummer limousine.

The hummer limousine could hold 23 people, but there is no information regarding any other Broncos players who may also have been inside.

The horrific shooting has shocked the sporting world, especially the tight Broncos family who will miss one of their best players and one of their best friends who was described as not only a talented player, but also a caring and compassionate person.

Williams’ team members and many other high profile sportspeople are again reminded that they must be conscious of their movements in public.
